The Hawthorne
Mountain Vineyards site was settled in the early 1900s by the Hawthorne
Brothers. Located a scenic 5-kilometre drive southwest of Okanagan
Falls on Green Lake Road, the winery is set high above the Okanagan
Valley, where the panoramic view of the valley and surrounding lakes
is breathtaking.
One of the region’s original plantings, the first vines on the property
were established in the early 1960s. Some of those same vines exist
today. The vineyard now boasts over 170 acres, and an extensive planting
program of top quality vinifera grapes is currently being undertaken.
Other improvements, part of a major expansion, include a new crush
platform, wine press, custom designed multi-purpose tanks, and an
expanded barrel program.
Winemaker Bruce Ewert, a native of British Columbia, focuses production
on premium wines, including Merlot, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Gewurztraminer.
The winery’s offerings also include wonderful Icewines as well as
bottle fermented sparkling wines. Bruce has been a winemaker in Canada
for eight years. He has also spent several years making wine in Australia
and California.
In 1998 Hawthorne Mountain Vineyards was awarded Best Overall Package,
a prestigious award for label design, at the International Wine and
Spirits Competition in London, England. Most recently Hawthorne Mountain
Vineyards received 89 points in Wine Spectator magazine for the 1997
Ehrenfelser Icewine, as well as 88 points for the 1997 Gewurztraminer.
See Ya later Ranch at Hawthorne Mountain Vineyards’ wine shop and

Sun-drenched slopes, pure mountain waters, cool evening desert breezes
and careful nurturing create grapes of spectacular flavour and quality.
The Old Settlers home, made of hand-split stone, conveys a sense of
old world timelessness. Nestled high above the valley floor, it stands
overlooking the vineyards and lakes. The wine shop is located in the
front of the house. Bring a friend, bring a picnic or snack, take
the time to sit and enjoy this truly beautiful and unique site.
Venturing through the wine shop, or around the house, will lead you
to the patio, shaded by a grape arbor and commanding a large, panoramic
view of the valley and lakes
So how will you know if you like our wines? We make wine from lots
of different grape varieties, but only you will know what tastes best
to you. So come up to the wine shop and enjoy the flavours grown right
here on the farm.
The wine shop is open daily from 9am - 5pm.
See Ya later Ranch at Hawthorne Mountain Vineyards lies just five
