Personally I would look at the Saanich Penninsula or Comox...We are currently looking at the Cowichan Valley (Maple Bay area) vs Victoria/Saanich but I have to say Nanaimo is simply out of the question in our books...not fair but the reality is the impressions we had whenever we drove through it=seedy. I'm sure it isnt that bad but that was just our take and when you get a place cheaper or on par in Comox/Courteny or the Duncan area I would choose those...employment might be a bit trickier though but I have heard Duncan is picking up...in any event we looked at the who coastline from Comox to Victoria and it probably doesnt matter where you pic...you will have gorgeous scenery and lifestyle juxtaposed with homeless slag and associated drug problems...I wish we canadians could get over our political correctness/bleeding heart mentality and see things for what they are and initiate a cull of these people who do nothing but devalue our society (JMHO).
