>> Funny thread. As an American who has lived many years in Canada, my first thought is good riddance. Obama is not doing anything, the economy is still in the pits in the US and the reason for the slow decline is all the people with a hand out. Vancouver Island is expensive. So is the cost of living in general in Canada. It is no bargain. <p>
Yes, the wealthiest tier will always be in the cross hairs of those who want to place blame. In any country you live, the wealthy create jobs. If anyone had gone to East Germany and the former Eastern Bloc so you could see firsthand what happens when everyone cedes decisions to the state. Please do not think the problem lies with blaming others . Thank you.
Agreed to the above.
Having lived in BC and Canada for the past 4 yrs I am looking forward to leaving here and not coming back, I think the system stinks and is backwards, beautiful country but shame about the twisted system.
Okay if you like greedy landlords that will always win your deposit or more via a rental authority system that is not run by lawyers (go figure, something very wrong there for a start), though obviously without landlords winning over tenants biasedly via a twisted rental authority they would not be in a job or gain money themselves, so win win for them regardless if they break the law doing it (I speak from 1st hand experience so I do know) and having had a lawyer too who was as disgusted as I was at how badly rental authority handle cases.
Nursing is another problem, or the health care as a whole, they are giving RN work to less qualified LPN's to save money and cut back, but the vulnerable (patients) are the ones that truly suffer in the long term.
Due to the above mainly, I won't miss Canada, and am certainly never putting myself or my own family at risk for the above, or being treated less better than where I moved from for example. I will miss the mountains, outdoors and lovely people I met here, but not the fraudelent system or the fraudsters either for that matter.
Good luck though with your decision.
