My partner and I are looking to move to Victoria or close proximity in September 2012. The reason for the wait is that at this time, I will have completed my degree at Ryerson University in Child and Youth Care in April of 2012. This gives me some time to do some searches around areas that my partner and I want to move as well as searching out current employment opportunities, hopefully in a child protection agency or similar social service agency.
I am currently working with the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto and have been for approximately 10 years in an Admission an Assessment program. I graduated in 1998 with a diploma as a Child & Youth Worker.
If anyone can offer me any advice on agencies that are somewhat transferable from the Children’s Aid Society in Toronto to a sister agency or another social service agency, I would greatly appreciate it.
Any information on areas to live as well as we are looking at Victoria area but are not apposed to a location that is within a close distance. Visited last year and are going to Tofino this year and have fallen in love with it. The concern is selling everything, our home and personal belongings in Toronto and moving there with no employment opportunities.
Any information is greatly appreciated. Although it is a huge move across the country from family and friends, we are definitely looking forward to giving this a try.
