The Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games will be held in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia. The 2010 Bid Committee originally wanted the games to be called the Vancouver Whistler 2010 Winter Olympic Games, but the IOC only allows one city name, with the name determined by the city that hosts the Opening and Closing ceremonies, namely Vancouver.

Vancouver
Vancouver is the international gateway for winter thrill-seekers arriving in BC. Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding will be held on Cypress Mountain in West Vancouver (Greater Vancouver) on Vancouver's North Shore.

Vancouver will host Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding, and all the ice sports: Ice Hockey, Curling, Figure Skating, Speed Skating, and Short Track Speed Skating.

Whistler will host Alpine Skiing on Whistler Mountain, and Blackcomb Mountain will host the Sliding Sports: Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton. Whistler Olympic Park in the Callaghan Valley, 18 km (11 miles) south of Whistler, will host the Nordic Sports: Biathlon, Cross-country Skiing, Nordic Combined, and Ski Jumping.
