Ash
River
With its source in Strathcona Provincial Park, the Ash River is a
small stream that winds its way through numerous lakes and valleys
before flowing into the Stamp
River, northwest of Port Alberni.
Access from Port Alberni is via Great Central Lake on the Ash River
Road and Long Lake logging roads.
There is good
summer steelhead fishing from July to September, fair winter steelhead
in February as well as great numbers of hatchery summer steelhead.
Rainbow trout are present in good numbers, with fall runs of chinook
and coho salmon.
