Campbell
River
The Campbell River is a short (5km) but large stream that flows
east from John Hart Lake to Discovery Passage, through the town
of Campbell River.
Fishable length on the Campbell River is 4km, with excellent paved
access from Highway 28 to Gold River.
Fishing pressure
is heavy, but catch success is maintained by a productive hatchery
program and extensive work to the spawning areas (gravelling), which
substantially enhance the river.
The flow rate of the river is also checked and controlled by the
dam at John Hart Lake.
The Campbell
River supports rainbow and sea-run cutthroat trout, summer and winter
steelhead and pink salmon runs in August.
