Cluxewe
River
This small stream flows northwards into Broughton Strait just north
of Port McNeill.
Despite its relatively short length, the Cluxewe River supports a
sizeable run of winter steelhead and a few sea-run cutthroat. Stocking
of cutthroat has been initiated in the hope of developing the fishery
for this species.
Dolly Varden,
rainbow trout and coho salmon in the fall can also be expected.
Fishing is best at the river mouth and along the bushy banks of
the Cluxewe River. In even-numbered years, pink salmon fishing at
the mouth of the Cluxewe River is very productive - mid August is
best.
