The largest
river system on Vancouver Island culminates with the flowing of
the Nimpkish River into Broughton Strait, 8km east of Port McNeill.
Cutthroat Trout
are resident year-round, with summer steelhead from June to September
and winter steelhead from January to April.
Dolly Varden fishing is good in the spring, with good fall runs
of chinook and coho salmon.
