The 3,491-hectare park protects rare old-growth forests of Sitka Spruce in the Clayoquot Lake and lower Clayoquot River areas. The Sitka Spruce is a tenacious conifer able to grow in salty, magnesium-rich soils where most other seedlings die.
A Nuu-chah-nulth heritage site is situated in Clayoquot Arm Park. Excellent salmon spawning conditions occur in Clayoquot River, and the unusual phenomenon of sockeye salmon spawning 20 metres below the water surface occurs in Clayoquot Arm.

This park is a good place to view wildlife, including black bears. A number of commercial eco-tourism companies in Tofino and Ucluelet offer bear watching tours to Clayoquot Arm Provincial Park.
The nearby Kennedy River and Clayoquot Arm of Kennedy Lake are popular canoeing and kayaking destinations.
