DESCRIPTION:Trio Seoul stands out as one of the Vancouver Chamber Music Society’s most anticipated programs in the 2023/24 Delta Series. Formed in 2022 by Kyu Yeon Kim\, Jinjoo Cho\, and Brannon Cho\, Trio Seoul aims to unite the talents of three accomplished 21st-century musicians. Together\, they have earned over 20 international competition awards and recognitions. Seoul\, their hometown\, serves as a vibrant inspiration for their artistic endeavors\, a theme they celebrate in February’s program. \nIn this performance\, Anton Arensky’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D Major incorporates Korean folk melodies\, reflecting the historical context of Japan’s invasion of Korea. Additionally\, Trio Seoul commissioned Korean composer Uzong Choe to create “Scattered Dreams” as a complementary piece to Arensky’s trio.
