Premier Listings for Francis Point Park
Francis Point Provincial Park protects a rare and important piece of pristine waterfront on the Francis Peninsula, west of Madeira Park on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
This extremely fragile and sensitive ecosystem combines the scenic and ecological attributes that have made the Gulf of Georgia world famous: intricate coves, windswept pines, mossy headlands, and towering old-growth veteran Douglas fir.
The 81-hectare Francis Point park is a combination of forested uplands and open mossy spaces well suited for ecologically-cautious hiking, while its waters offer unlimited opportunities for kayaking, swimming and scuba diving.
There is a short (one hour) wooded and rocky hiking trail that leads to a viewpoint at the top of the Francis Peninsula, with scenic views of Vancouver Island, Texada Island and the BC Gulf Islands. A branch of the trail leads down to the rocky oceanfront.
Francis Point Lighthouse is a favourite destination with boaters, kayakers and divers: Francis Point offers some of the best diving on the Sunshine Coast of BC. The proposed park is easily accessible, and features cozy bays suitable for sheltering small craft.
Francis Point Provincial Park is located on the Francis Peninsula, west of Madeira Park on the BC Sunshine Coast. From the intersection of the Sunshine Coast Highway, turn west on Francis Peninsula Road (just south of the main turnoff for Pender Harbour) and continue to Merrill Road. Turn left and drive 400 metres to the parking lot at the end of the road.
