Eagle River Nature Park protects a portion of the riparian zone along the Eagle River east of the community of Malakwa in the Shuswap region of British Columbia.
The Eagle River flows into Shuswap Lake along the Trans-Canada Highway, and is an important spawning and rearing habitat for sockeye, coho and chinook salmon.
Facilities at the park include 2 picnic areas with washrooms (pit toilets) and picnic tables.
The 454-hectare Eagle River Park offers an attractive trail network of 6 kilometres of hiking and cross-country trails along the banks of the Eagle River, which meanders alongside the Trans Canada Highway between Sicamous and Revelstoke. The trails pass through a wide variety of trees and bushes, including magnificent cedars. Evidence of early logging practices from the 1920s and 1930s remains in the form of huge tree stumps.
Eagle River Nature Park is located approximately 7 miles (12 km) east of the junction of Highway 97A and the Trans Canada Highway at Sicamous, accessed by service road off Trans-Canada Highway 1 at Malakwa. Travel east from Sicamous on the Trans-Canada Highway toward Revelstoke, and turn left onto Malakwa Road opposite the KOA Campground. Turn right immediately onto the frontage road and travel 700 metres. Watch for the sign and parking on the left.
