Located northeast of 100 Mile House lies the small Canim Beach Provincial Park. There’s literally something here for everyone, from water skiing to swimming, hiking, canoeing, kayaking and boating. Canoe, kayak, boat and paddle wheeler rentals are available from nearby resorts. Canim Lake, a large lake, is the angling centre of a region famed for the size of its char, or ‘laker,’ as the fish is referred to locally. In summer, this is serious angling country. Car-top boat launching is possible from the south end of the lake.
There is no vehicle accessible camping facilities at this park. Alternative provincial park campsites nearby include Green Lake Provincial Park, Lac La Hache Provincial Park and Big Bar Lake Provincial Park, which feature full-size campsites.
Attractions within the park include the old mine site at Hendricks Lake, and one of the natural park treasures, which visitors shouldn’t miss is Canim Falls at the east end of the lake. Once the big, 37 km lake freezes over, the landscape turns into significant backcountry touring turf. Purists looking to cut their own cross-country tracks in the Cariboo head to Canim Lake.
Canim Beach Provincial Park is located 27 miles (43 km) northest of 100 Mile House, off Cariboo Highway 97.
