Jimsmith Lake Provincial Park, located just south of Cranbrook on the western side of the Rocky Mountain Trench, is a popular park for year-round outdoor recreation, nature study and wildlife viewing. This 13.7-hectare park encompasses the small Jimsmith Lake and mixed forests of Douglas fir, spruce, western larch, aspen, lodgepole pine and ponderosa pine.
In the summer, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, and fishing for jumbo rainbow trout and large-mouth bass are popular. In the winter, the park is transformed into a snowy playground for tobogganing, ice skating, ice-fishing and cross-country skiing.
There are vehicle/tent campsites at this park, but reservations are not accepted; all campsites are on a first-come, first-served basis. Basic facilities include picnic tables, pit toilets, fire pits, firewood and water, and the park is also wheelchair accessible. There are no boat launch facilities available, as motorized boats are not permitted on the lake. The campground is open from June to September.
Jimsmith Lake Provincial Park is located 2.5 miles (4 km) south of Cranbrook on Highway 93/95, accessed via Jimsmith Lake Road.
