For a refreshing dip or paddle in the cool waters of the Similkameen River on a hot summer day, stop at Bromley Rock or Stemwinder Provincial Parks.
Open year-round, Stemwinder is also popular as a picnic stop for travellers along Hwy 3. Between 1904 and 1955, Stemwinder had approximately $47 million worth of gold removed. Apparently there is still gold left in the hills, so in addition to enjoying a perfect day out, you may strike it rich as well!
The park provides 27 vehicle accessible campsites, including one pull-through site. All of the sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis – campsite reservations are not accepted. The campground is open year round but only maintained from April to October.
Stemwinder Provincial Park is located in the Similkameen Valley, near Hedley on Highway #3, about 21 miles (34 km) east of Princeton.
