Premier Listings for Topley Landing Provincial Park
Topley Landing Provincial Park lies along the western shore of Babine Lake, north of Highway 16, protecting First Nations’ cultural heritage features.
The small 12-hectare provincial park lies within the traditional territory of the Nat’oot’en Nation, and is used for a First Nations food fishery and other activities, including trapping, hunting, and gathering.
A large natural beach dominates the park’s frontage on Babine Lake, providing a good picnicking spot and outdoor recreation site primarily for residents from Tachet, Granisle, Topley Landing and Topley. Facilities in the park are limited to a pit toilet.
The park is close to the Fulton River sockeye salmon spawning channel, located to the northwest of the park, providing access to angling opportunities at the mouth of the Fulton River where it enters Babine Lake. Also located along the shores of Babine Lake are Babine Lake Marine Park (Pendleton Bay), Babine Lake Marine Park (Smithers Landing), Red Bluff Provincial Park, and park sites at Sandpoint, Hook (Deep) Bay, Pinkut Creek, and Pierre Creek. Other parks along Babine Lake and adjacent Nilkitkwa Lake include Sutherland River, Rainbow Alley, Nilkitkwa Lake sites, and the Babine River Corridor.
Paddlers will probably take over a week to canoe Babine Lake, British Columbia’s longest (but not largest) lake at 110 miles (177 km) from tip to tip. You can put in and take out at many places along the lake, including Fort Babine, Smithers Landing, Granisle, Topley Landing, or Pendleton Bay Provincial Park. Hug the shore of this huge lake, as the weather can change rapidly.
Topley Landing Provincial Park is located in Northwest British Columbia, 7.5 miles (12 km) east of Granisle, immediately west of the community of Topley Landing. The park is reached by turning north off Highway 16 at Topley, and continuing for 25 miles (40 km) to Topley Landing.
