Premier Listings for Kennedy Lake Park

Kennedy Lake Provincial Park is blessed with two sites of beautiful scenery along the south shore of Kennedy Lake, adjacent to Pacific Rim National Park on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

The park totals 258 hectares, incorporating 104 hectares of upland and 154 hectares of foreshore, and is a popular day-use destination for lake and beach-based recreation.

There are no developed hiking trails in the park, and camping is not permitted.

Due to the steep-sided mountains surrounding Kennedy Lake, the largest body of fresh water on Vancouver Island, winds whip up across the main part of Kennedy Lake and Clayoquot Arm with little warning, requiring extreme caution by paddlers and boaters.

The sandy shores of Kennedy Lake offer good swimming opportunities, but there is no designated swimming area at the park. There are no lifeguards on duty at provincial parks.

No facilities are available in Kennedy Lake Provincial Park, although there is a day-use picnic area adjacent to Log Dump Creek on the eastern shore of Kennedy Lake, with two picnic tables, 1 wheelchair accessible pit toilet, a parking lot, and a boat launch.

A number of small creeks under the highway offer spawning and rearing habitat for several species of fish. In the fall it is possible to view beach spawning of sockeye. Black bears are common at this time.

Kennedy Lake Provincial Park is located en route to Tofino and Ucluelet in the Pacific Rim region of Vancouver Island. The park is easily accessible from Pacific Rim Highway 4, which runs alongside Kennedy Lake, 52 miles (83 km) southwest of Port Alberni.
