The 2,842-hectare Gilnockie Provincial Park, just north of the U.S. border in the BC Rockies, protects mixed forests with important stands of larch and fir, some of the oldest in the region for their age and size. The park also provides habitat for elk, white-tailed deer, mule deer, moose, grizzly bear and the threatened northern leopard frog and Columbia red-tailed chipmunk.
Recreational activities include wilderness camping and fishing. There is a provincial picnic site just beyond the south boundary of the park. There are no facilities provided at Gilnockie Provincial Park.
The park is located southeast of Cranbrook and 3 miles (5 km) north of the US/Canada border between Moyie Lake and Elko. Access is by seasonal logging roads from Highway 3 at Moyie via Teepee Creek, Yahk Creek and Ward Creek (22 miles/35 km).
Gilnockie Provincial Park can also be accessed from Lake Koocanusa at Kikomun Creek Provincial Park via Plumbob Creek, Gold Creek and Caven Creek (22 miles/35 km) or via Gold Creek, Bloom Creek and Ward Creek (25 miles/40 km).
