BritishColumbia.com & BC Parks 2025 Photo Contest – Official Rules and Terms

By entering the 2025 Parks of British Columbia Photo Contest (“Contest”), hosted by BritishColumbia.com in partnership with BC Parks, you agree to the following rules, terms, and conditions:

1. Eligibility

Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and protected persons under Canadian law (excluding Quebec residents).
Participants must be at least 19 years old, or have permission from a legal guardian.
Entrants under 19 must submit a signed parental/guardian consent form with their entry.
Employees and affiliates of BritishColumbia.com, BC Parks, and their immediate families or household members are not eligible.

2. Contest Theme & Photo Criteria

All entries must be photographs taken within a British Columbia park (provincial, regional, or national parks within BC).
Photos must align with one of the 12 monthly themes listed on the contest page.
Up to 3 entries per theme per entrant are allowed.
Photographs must be high-resolution JPEGs (minimum 300dpi), under 20MB, without watermarks or photographer markings.
Each file must be named in this format: ParkName_PhotographerName.jpeg (e.g., Yoho_MorganLee.jpeg)
Photos must be submitted via the official contest portal by August 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM PDT.

3. Copyright & Usage Rights

You retain full copyright of your images.
By entering, you grant BritishColumbia.com and BC Parks a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use your image for promotional and educational purposes, including the 2026 calendar and related online/print campaigns.
You represent that you hold all rights and permissions for submitted photos, including any necessary model or property releases.
If your photo includes identifiable individuals, you must have their written consent (or their guardian’s, if underage).

4. Content Standards

Photos must not contain any material that is defamatory, discriminatory, vulgar, or otherwise inappropriate for general audiences.
Entries may be disqualified if they contain offensive or misleading content, or violate the rights of any third party.

5. Judging & Prizes

Entries will be reviewed by a panel selected by BritishColumbia.com and BC Parks.
12 winners will be chosen (one per calendar month) and featured in the 2026 Parks of British Columbia Calendar.
Winners will receive:
- A free copy of the printed calendar
- Photographer credit in all published materials
- Entry into a draw for exclusive BC Parks gear and regional gift packs
Winners will be notified by October 15, 2025, via the contact information provided.

6. Privacy & Publicity

Your personal information will only be used for the administration of this Contest and to communicate with winners.
By entering, you grant the right to use your name and likeness for promotional purposes in connection with the contest, without further compensation.

7. Limitation of Liability

By entering, you agree to release and hold harmless BritishColumbia.com, BC Parks, and their representatives from any liability for injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from participation or prize acceptance.

8. Disclaimers & Cancellation

Contest entries that are late, incomplete, corrupted, or not submitted through official channels will be disqualified.
BritishColumbia.com and BC Parks reserve the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the contest in the event of unforeseen circumstances or force majeure.
Decisions by the organizers are final and binding in all matters.
