Tyhee Lake Provincial Park is a lightly forested park in the Bulkley Valley, and is the perfect place for family camping. The main activities in the park are swimming, boating, and bird watching. Tyhee Lake is also a great place to catch trout; there’s a boat launch within the park.
An interpretive trail leads to a marsh viewing platform where it is possible to see loons, rednecked grebes, ruffed grouse, and beavers. The park provides beautiful sandy beaches, with beachside picnic tables and a covered shelter. In winter, Tyhee Lake Provincial Park, and a dozen other areas offer ice fishing and nordic skiing in fine, dry powder snow.
Tyhee Lake Provincial Park has 59 campsites, including 2 double sites and 4 tent sites. This is a large, well maintained campground, set amidst an aspen forest on the side of Tyhee Lake. There are also shower facilities, flush toilets, and a sani-stations. Recreational facilities include volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and a play area for children. The campground is open from May to September during which time fees are collected. Campground gate is locked when the snow begins to fall.
Other provincial parks in the area include: Ethel F. Wilson on Pinkut Lake. This is a popular spot with local anglers who ply the waters for rainbow trout. Pendelton Bay is primitive, most people use this area as a starting point for excursions onto Babine Lake. Farther up the lake is Red Bluff Provincial Park, named for iron-stained cliffs that plunge into Babine.
Tyhee Lake Provincial Park is located in Northern British Columbia, just north of Telkwa, less than 1 km north of Highway 16.
