Premier Listings for Panorama Ski Resort
In a province of great, relatively unknown ski resorts, no place in British Columbia is as underrated or overlooked as Panorama Ski Resort. Because of its remote location in the Purcell Mountains, Panorama is more of a mountain retreat.
Framed by the Canadian Rockies and the ancient Purcell Mountains, Panorama Mountain Village is known for it’s immense mountain and true slope-side lodging. With close to 3,000 acres of lift-serviced terrain and one of the biggest verticals in North America, you might just have an entire run to yourself. No lift line-ups and no crowds.
Taynton Bowl is Panorama’s latest terrain expansion, and was named best new terrain by SKI and Ski Canada magazines. The powder-bowl features almost 1,000 acres of a backcountry environment, including chutes, glades, and gullies. Long, cruising runs groomed to perfection will thrill skiers and riders of all abilities, on the front side of the mountain, and an expert and an intermediate terrain park round out the mountain’s offerings with rails, tabletops, and a half pipe.
Panorama has the best mountain-side village in the Canadian Rockies; a pedestrian village with a variety of restaurants and après ski options, including the giant, slopeside, Panorama Springs Hot Pools. The village is built for walking, with dining and shopping just a few steps from your condo. Panorama has all the trappings of a tremendous destination resort: walk-to-lifts accommodation, high-speed quad chairlifts, and a relatively easy international gateway airport (Calgary).
There are even several outdoor hot tubs located right at the base of the lifts, in which you can soak your weary bones after a day on the slopes. Other activities include ice skating, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, snowshoe excursions, Nordic Skiing, Dog Sledding, Ice Fishing, and Heli skiing, as well as ‘cowboy cookouts’ and mountaintop fondues.
Panorama is home to the Alpine Canada Alpin National Training Centre, where the hugely successful Canadian team trains, alongside the top athletes from around the world.
Panorama Ski Resort is located in the Toby Creek Valley, a tributary of the mighty Columbia River, 11.2 miles (18 km) west of Invermere on Toby Creek Road. The nearby towns of Invermere and Radium Hot Springs provide additional accommodation.
Calgary International Airport (4 hours) is the principal gateway serving all major carriers and ground transportation options (3-hour drive southwest from Calgary). Turn south off the Trans-Canada Highway 1 onto Highway 93 to Radium Hot Springs. Travel south on Highway 93/95 to Invermere (6 miles/10 km). Panorama is well-marked, 11 miles (18 km) west of Invermere.
Motor coach transportation from Calgary International Airport is available upon request, if booked 30 days prior to arrival. To book, please call Panorama’s Transportation Coordinator at 250-341-4193.
