You’ll spend two nights in Vancouver and enjoy a city tour of many sights in this beautiful coastal city. Your rail adventure onboard the Rocky Mountaineer begins with your journey from Vancouver to Kamloops.
The next day onboard the Rocky Mountaineer you follow Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass into the Canadian Rockies and on to Banff, where you’ll enjoy a morning motorcoach tour of the Banff area. Banff National Park’s unique blend of first-class amenities, stunning scenery, warm hospitality and local heritage will exceed your expectations. The alpine beauty of the Canadian Rockies is the setting for the mountain resort communities of Banff and Lake Louise.

You’ll be thrilled with the view from a mountain gondola ride to the peak of Sulphur Mountain. On your way to Jasper you’ll enjoy a full-day motorcoach tour of the Icefields Parkway and a Snocoach ride. The Snocoach Tour will take you out onto the Athabasca Glacier, a tongue of the Columbia Icefield, for an awe-inspiring glimpse of icy crevasses and ice-fed streamlets. Your driver will point out interesting geological features as you travel in safety and comfort. The highest point along the Icefields Parkway is Bow Summit, at 2,069 metres (6,787 feet above sea level) while the elevation at the Village of Lake Louise is 1,534 metres (5,033 feet above sea level).
In Jasper, you’ll be treated to a “Discover Jasper Tour.” The next day you are free to enjoy this stunning mountain village on your own. Jasper National Park is Canada’s largest Rocky Mountain Park and one of North America’s largest natural areas and a wildlife sanctuary spanning 10,878 sq. km. (4,200 sq. mi.) of awe-inspiring scenic splendour. Jasper National Park is located in the Rocky Mountains in the west-central portion of the province of Alberta, adjacent to the British Columbia boundary. Nestled in the midst of this vast unspoiled grandeur lies the picturesque town of Jasper where many first-class facilities await the visitor. Jasper offers four-season fun in a pristine Rocky Mountain environment. Shimmering glaciers, abundant wildlife, crystal-clear lakes, thundering waterfalls, deep canyons and evergreen forests surrounded by towering rugged mountain peaks – all a part of the Jasper experience.
From Jasper, travel to Kamloops, following the trail of the Overlanders through the Canadian Rockies. Pass through Mount Robson Provincial Park – the peak of Mount Robson is the highest in the Canadian Rockies, towering 12,972 feet (3,954 m) over the western entrance to the park. Mount Robson Provincial Park, one of the oldest in British Columbia, contains the headwaters of the Fraser River, and, in the northwest section of the park, the massive Berg Glacier, notable for being one of the few living (or advancing) glaciers in the Canadian Rockies.
Your tour will continue aboard the Rocky Mountaineer® as it follows the glacier-fed Thompson River until it meets the legendary Fraser River. Pass Hell’s Gate on the way through the Coastal Mountains and continue on to Vancouver.
