Morrissey Provincial Park, on the banks of the Elk River, has the river and the shade of tall cottonwoods and an historic atmosphere – nearby coke ovens are evidence of the area’s early coal mines.

Those who like to picnic at riverside should stop at Morrissey Provincial Park. Basic facilities are provided – picnic tables, pit toilets and water. Fishing is also good in the Elk River.

Morrissey Provincial Park is located in the BC Rockies region of British Columbia, 10 miles (16 km) southeast of Fernie on Highway 3.
